Biography
Camilo is an anthropologist and designer with a PhD in Culture, Media and Creative industries. His practice aims at facilitating communication between worldviews with practical impact through the use of actionable narratives.
His doctoral thesis at King's explored the interaction between local forms of popular dance (mostly Colombian salsa) and transnational markets, and the potential of this interaction for the cohesion of culturally diverse communities. He has also worked with a wide range of different communities from indigenous people in the Amazon, to gang members in marginal areas of Colombian cities, to artists in both Latin America and West Africa, and with post-conflict future design in the Andes. Currently, his research focuses on the use of Experience Design for social innovation through narratives and storytelling.
Camilo has been teaching at King's College since January 2019 and is currently an affiliate lecturer. He has supported modules on Digital Economy, Music and Sound in Digital Communities, Cultural and Creative Industries, and Latin American Studies.

Teaching
Camilo currently teaches in the fields of performance Latin American communities, culture and design.
Expertise and public engagement
Camilo was part of the curatorial team for the Goethe-Institut São Paulo/London exhibition Carnival in the Making, which involved the creation of a digital environment and engagement strategy to showcase the work of over 30 artist in Latin America, Africa and Europe.
He also participated as Research Associate for POR EL Páramo, a project involving 5 universities in the UK and Colombia aiming to inform environmental policy and improving the livelihoods of inhabitants of the High Andean Moorlands in Colombia.
As a practising dancer of Latin American rhythms, Camilo has engaged in teaching and choreographing for Latin dance events in London. He participated as dancer for fusion dance performances such as Seasonal Hues at the Brady Arts Centre, both in collaboration with Suchismita Ganguly Dance Company, and The Mouth of the Gods at the Hoxton Hall with Border Crossings.
