Biography

Barbara (BSc., MSc., PGCert) has worked in the field of psychiatry for the last 15 years in various child and adult mental health services, forensic clinics and therapeutic communities, including roles in Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal College of Psychiatrists. She has completed a foundation course in Psychodynamic Practice at Birkbeck University of London and her goal is to train as a counsellor.

Barbara joined King's in 2014 as Department Administrator and PA to Professor Emily Simonoff in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN). 

In 2017, she joined Dr Dennis Ougrin's team in the BeST? Services Trial, an NIHR-funded randomised controlled trial looking at improving mental health for infants who are placed in care. She concurrently worked as fundraising assistant for Professor Emily Simonoff working on the CYP fundraising campaign and Pears Maudsley Centre for Children and Young People. 

In 2020, Barbara took up the role of Office Manager in the Centre for Research in Eating and Weight Disorders (CREW) in the Department of Psychological Medicine, working closely with Professor Ulrike Schmidt, Professor Kate Tchanturia, Professor Janet Treasure, Professor Iain Campbell, Professor Edgar Jones, Professor Khalida Ismail and Dr Hubertus Himmerich.

Barbara is currently on secondment as Communications Officer in the IoPPN Press & Communications Team. She is involved in the Culture, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee and has recently trained as a IoPPN Bullying & Harassment Confidential Advisor.
