Biography
Amira Mills is the Team Leader for Arabic and Lecturer in Arabic Language Education at King’s College London, as well as Senior Tutor at King’s Language Centre. She holds a BA in Arabic and French Literature, an MA in Linguistics and Phonetics from Ain Shams University, Egypt. With extensive experience in designing and delivering Arabic language courses at UK universities, Amira is responsible for leading the Arabic language team, managing curriculum development, and overseeing courses offered by the Language Centre. Her particular passion lies in curriculum design for specific purposes and the creation of inclusive learning environments that support students across all levels. As an external examiner at Bristol University, she provides valuable insight into the academic development of Arabic programmes, having previously served in similar roles at several other universities. Amira’s commitment to innovative teaching and inclusive pedagogy has led to multiple nominations for learning and teaching awards. She has also contributed to the Decolonising the Curriculum project, working to enhance the cultural inclusivity and relevance of the Arabic language curriculum. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Amira continues to be a leading figure in Arabic language education, dedicated to advancing teaching practices and improving the student experience.
