Alice Dias-Mercier

Lecturer in French Language Education

Biography

Alice is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a graduate of University College London, where she gained her PhD in French and Comparative Literature in 2015 with a focus on contemporary post memorial fictions. Alice’s research extends to colonial/postcolonial studies and Francophone literature outside of France.

 

Since 2018, she has been teaching at King’s College London across a range of modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Before joining the Language Centre, she taught French and Francophone literature, culture and language as well as translation at University College of London, Royal Holloway University of London, University of Roehampton and George Mason University in the US where she obtained her MA in French and Translation Studies.

 

As an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and holder of the IoLet Diploma in Translation, she is a freelance translator involved in translation studies and is interested in the use of translation in language teaching.
