Biography
Alejandro Palomares is originally from Madrid (Spain). He holds a BA in Translation from Universidad Complutense in Madrid, and a MA in Linguistics from the Vrije Universiteit Brussels, where he specialised in Second-Language Acquisition. He is also currently doing his PhD in Linguistics, funded by the AHRC/UKRI TECHNÉ studentship. He has taught Spanish, Translation and Linguistics in Higher Education in Brussels, Madrid and London, before obtaining a position as lecturer of Spanish Language Education at King’s College London. Besides his academic interests, Alejandro also is passionate about music, art and languages.
Scholarly Activity
Alejandro’s academic interests primarily centre on Semantics and Pragmatics from a theoretical and applied perspective. His research focuses on the study of linguistic meaning at a cognitive and social level, especially in relation to conceptual and connotational values, and its applications for language acquisition. He is also working on different pedagogical projects to improve language-teaching practices.
