Our healthcare partners

At King’s, we work with organisations that give students experience in tackling healthcare challenges and improving patient care. And not just in the UK. We work together to make sure health education and research reaches people all over the globe

Our partners provide placements for pre-registration nursing and midwifery students. This is key to helping us prepare a new generation of healthcare professionals.

In return, we share our research expertise, design tailored training for teams and inject new ideas into practice that improve patient care.

King's is also part of UK Academic Health Sciences Centre called King's Health Partners. Along with three of the UK's leading NHS trusts - Guy's and St Thomas', King's College Hospital and South London and Maudsley - we work together to ensure research breakthroughs directly benefit patients.

Providing practice learning for students

To prepare for their career, our pre-registration nurses and midwives need to test their skills and learn how to manage relationships.

Working in our partner trusts gives them the chance to immerse themselves in practice and work alongside professionals with clinical expertise in a whole host of areas.

Supporting professional development

Other partnerships commission King’s for CPD work. Training is designed using our expertise and geared towards helping teams build specific skills.

For example, we’ve worked with our partner Imperial College Trust to create innovative courses that include in-house emergency practitioner training and minor illness and injury education.

We developed our own in-house courses to generate our own workforce. King’s College London were extremely supportive from the outset and listened to our specific needs. Now we’re creating our third course with King’s!

Carrying out research and creating patient resources

We also work with organisations to answer big questions in the field, boost knowledge around specific areas and help patients understand their care.

Two examples of our recent projects are:

  • The Diabetes for South Asians (DoSA) programme
We developed this course over several years, through research at King’s and the University of Warwick and meeting people from South Asian communities.
  • Caesarean section information gap
We worked with healthcare charity Tommy’s to help expectant mothers understand everything about c-sections – from what happens during surgery to top tips for recovery.
