Remote consultations improve access to healthcare in Nigeria and Tanzania

A report in The Lancet Global Health found that, with appropriate training and funding, remote consultations can improve access to healthcare in low- and middle-income countries.

Randomised controlled trials in Nigeria and Tanzania found that remote consultations improve health care coverage for people with diabetes, high blood pressure and respiratory conditions without compromising patient safety or the trustworthiness of consultations.

Irene Higginson

Professor Irene Higginson named #30 in top UK female scientist rankings

Professor Higginson, Professor of Palliative Care & Policy and Executive Dean of the Faculty was been named within the top 30 in female scientists in the UK by Research.com.

Only the top 1,000 female scientists are displayed in the rankings which aim to “inspire female researchers, women pondering an academic profession, as well as decision-makers around the world with the example of successful women in the research community.”

Professor Higginson was also named in the top 1% of Highly Cited Researchers in the world for her contribution across scientific fields in the 2023 Highly Cited Researchers List from Clarivate.

King's opens innovative children's simulation ward for enhanced learning

A children’s ward was launched in the King's Chantler Simulation and Interactive Learning Centre. This state of the art facility is designed to transform education through simulation-based learning, providing students with realistic opportunities to practice and develop their skills.

The Safari Ward is a bespoke learning environment that has been designed to cater to the specific educational needs of students. It features an array of simulation technologies, including computerized baby and child mannequins, complete with child-sized beds and incubators.

The immersive space includes an animal-themed mural, painted by artist and King's student, Ruby Morton.

Dr Dilla Davis and Dr Agimol Pradeep

Team King's wins Health Service Journal award for Workplace Initiative of the Year

Dr Dilla Davis, lecturer in nursing education at King’s College London and Dr Agimol Pradeep, liver transplant coordinator at King’s College Hospital, have been recognised by the Health Services Journal (HSJ) for their groundbreaking campaign work which is changing the lives of health care professionals.

Around 1,000 internationally educated nurses received their NMC registration within the first five months and many more are added daily to the nursing workforce.

At the award ceremony, Dilla and Agimol won the award for Workforce Initiative of the Year and were highly commended in the NHS Race Equality Award Category.
