We asked our team why they work for the School of Global Affairs
Here is what our team members said about working within the School of Global Affairs (SGA):
From the very beginning, when I joined in 2017, I was invited into a work environment that was supportive and welcoming to both my career aspirations and personal development. Amongst other projects, I'm currently working on the Athena SWAN (Gender Equality Award for Higher Education) Bronze Award for two of the School's departments, which is really fulfilling and highlights some of the wonderful diversity & inclusion initiatives in the School. It has also unearthed some new challenges that the School are looking forward to addressing in the near future. Aside from the supportive working environment, the Professional Services team has grown in the open plan office in Bush House. It's developed into a sociable and collaborative space, and the team make it enjoyable and worthwhile coming to work (and make most Mondays bearable!).

Working for the SGA not only provides the challenge of supporting groundbreaking academic teaching and research and a large and diverse community of students and staff, but also the reward of being part of a positive, supportive and well-managed Professional Services team. There are good opportunities for career development in university administration both within the School and beyond at King's. We are based in the iconic Bush House, excellently located in central London. It's been refurbished to provide a pleasant and productive working environment.

Great central location thus an easy commute each day. We have access to wider King's networks, as well as a Personal Research Support Allowance (PRSA) to further develop myself through training opportunities. We have bright and modern facilities.

We have a good sense of team, helping each other; a feeling of belonging; accommodation of individual issues; an interesting range of work; a pleasant environment; and a good student/academic dynamic.

In the time that I have worked in the SGA, I have been part of a collaborative workspace that is supportive, caring and allows me to be an individual. I have a flexible working arrangement in place that gives me an opportunity to balance my work-home life. There are a number of benefits to working within in this SGA, other than the generous leave policy, the flexible working arrangements and the facilities; these include the ability to further your personal development, a supportive management team, and the focus on personal well-being and the opportunity to learn skills across departments and from your peers.
