Remembering Professor Alexander Türk
It is with immense sadness that we share the news that Professor Alexander Türk has passed away.

A member of The Dickson Poon School of Law faculty for almost three decades, Alex joined in 1996 and was promoted to professor in 2010. Over his many years with us he held several leadership positions within the Law School, including stints as Vice Dean (International) and as the Interim Executive Dean. He was a longstanding member and regular contributor to the Centre of European Law, serving as its Assistant Director, and held Visiting Professor positions at Georgetown University in Washington, Pepperdine University in California, and the University of Iowa.
Alex studied Law and History at the University of Augsburg, Germany, obtained an LLM in European Law at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium, and his PhD was awarded from the University of London. He published extensively on the law of the European Union but also held keen interests in comparative constitutional law and the law of the United States. He shared his formidable expertise with the House of Commons, leading international law firms, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, as well as the European Institute of Public Administration.
His hard work, determination and invaluable leadership in these roles ensured The Dickson Poon School of Law continued to build upon its strong tradition as a global law school, and he was responsible for establishing key partnerships with prestigious institutions across the world. His remarkable blend of intelligence, curiosity, and warmth made him the ideal ambassador for the School.
Alex was renowned for his kindness and professionalism, and he was revered by staff and students alike. His kindheartedness, patience, and wealth of knowledge were deeply valued by his colleagues and the wider community at King’s.
His contributions to our community are immeasurable, and the school would not be what it is today without him. His passing is a terrible loss for us all, and we cannot express how much we will miss him.
