Professor Mark Richardson, Head of School of Neuroscience, opened the night by welcoming attendees which included friends and families. He briefly introduced Professor Srivastava's career at King's and shared some highlights.

Professor Deepak Srivastava is a Professor of Molecular Neuroscience, a group leader at MRC Centre for Neurodevelopmental Disorders, and the Director of Wohl Cellular Imaging Centre at King's College London. His research focuses on three main questions: how neurons connect, how they develop their architecture, and how the hundreds of proteins that make up neurons function. Professor Srivastava is a strong proponent of collaboration, sharing examples of this ethos throughout his lecture.

Dr Anthony Vernon, a Reader in Neuropsychopharmacology at the IoPPN, ended the lecture by expressing his admiration towards his dear friend and colleague.

I am grateful for this amazing opportunity to reflect on my journey to professorship. I am blessed with an amazing family and great friends. I hope my lecture can serve as a reminder to persevere through hardships and to seek joy in and outside the lab.”
