Professor Michael Goodman elected Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences
Professor Michael Goodman has been elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS) in its latest round of appointments.

Goodman, who is Professor of Intelligence and International Affairs in the Department of War Studies, and Director of the King’s Centre for the Study of Intelligence, joins 63 other newly appointed fellows, whose combined social science expertise will be applied to varied challenges currently facing global societies. Academy Fellows are elected for their excellence in their fields and their substantial contributions to social science for public benefit.
The AcSS supports research, influences policy and advocates for the value of social science in addressing societal challenges. Its fellowship comprises 1,600 leading social scientists from academia, the public, private and third sectors. Fellows’ expertise covers the breadth of the social sciences, and their practice and research addresses some of the major challenges facing communities, society, places and economies. Selection for fellowship is through an independent peer review which recognises their excellence and impact.
Professor Goodman, who is also former Head of the Department of War Studies, has published widely in the field of intelligence history and scientific intelligence. He also lectures further afield, most recently appearing at an open seminar hosted by the University of Iceland’s Institute of International Affairs on 7 April, where he discussed current and future challenges facing national security and intelligence communities.
