New head of department announced
The new head of the Department of Political Economy has been announced.
Dr Rod Dacombe will officially take over the post on 1 August, succeeding Professor Andrew Blick.
Dr Dacombe is a reader in politics and current director of the Centre for British Politics and Government. He has served as vice-dean (education) in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Public Policy and co-convenor of the Participatory and Deliberative Democracy Specialist Group of the Political Studies Association.
Dr Dacombe said: “I’ve spoken to many colleagues over the last few weeks and I’m very grateful for the support I’ve received, which has been important both in my decision to accept the role and in clarifying the main issues we face as a department.”
Professor Peter John, head of the School of Politics and Economics, said: “We in the school and faculty are very glad Rod has agreed to take up the post as head of department. We are very excited by his plans and approach to leadership.
“I would like to thank Andrew Blick for his effective leadership over the last four years. I am sure you all will want to thank him too. In August, he will take a very well-earned sabbatical.”
