Do you have an idea for a project or initiative just waiting to be brought to life?

The School of Politics and Economics Opportunity Fund is here to help!

The fund is offering grants of up to £500 for individuals and £2,000 for groups to assist with bringing your idea from the project page to reality.

We are looking for applications that help foster a sense of community in SPE, ideas that empower learning environments, enhance student confidence or improve employability skills.

The fund is open to all students studying in SPE (undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research) as well as academic and professional services staff. We encourage you to be imaginative with your proposals and welcome creative collaborations between students and staff.

Becky Hart, Student Engagement Manager in SPE, said: “The SPE Opportunity Fund offers our students and staff the chance to build something unique. It could be a field trip, a conference, a focus group, a workshop or something entirely different. We want applicants to be creative but, above all, to work towards something that benefits our student community.

“Sometimes funding is the missing piece of the puzzle, the final element that turns a great idea into a transformative project. We would love for the Opportunity Fund to make that possible so get working on your applications today.”

For the 2024-25 academic year, applications for the SPE Opportunity Fund will be in two intakes. In semester one, applications open on 15 October at midnight (GMT) and run until midnight on 15 November. In semester two, applications open on at midnight on 1 February, 2025, and close at midnight on 1 March.

Full details, terms and conditions, and frequently asked questions are available on KEATS and via the following link: SPE Student Experience Hub.
