King's signs partnership to support new College of Medicine and Health Sciences in the State of Kuwait

Building on planning and partnership over the last year, King’s College London has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Abdullah Al Salem University (AASU) and NEST (a national company for educational services & training in Kuwait) to support the creation of AASU’s new Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, in Kuwait.

In collaboration with AASU and NEST, and drawing on King’s extensive knowledge and expertise in medicine and health science curriculum development, the new partnership will deliver medical degrees and bio-science masters, that will be tailored to the Kuwait health economy and context, alongside world-class medical research, supported by King’s expertise.

The partnership recognizes the need to increase the local provision doctors in Kuwait, to support and serve the local community by improving health outcomes through preventative care, use of technology, innovative approaches to care, and quality improvement.

We are looking forward to working in partnership with AASU and NEST on this important project which will see an increase in Kuwaiti doctors and healthcare scientists, trained locally according to international best practice, experience and King's innovation, for the future of Kuwaiti healthcare.

Speaking about the partnership, Professor Moudi Abdulaziz Al-Hamoud, Chair of the Founding Administrative Board of Abdullah Al-Salem University said “The new college reflects the university’s commitment to providing high-quality, innovative education through its partnership with King’s College London, setting new standards for medical education and scientific research, and preparing the next generation of healthcare leaders.” 

The MD programme, which will be awarded by AASU, will be developed from the King’s curriculum, which focuses on mental health alongside physical health; and making a positive difference across society.

The Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine is fortunate to contain world-leading experts in the fields of healthcare and medicine, who are leading the way when it comes to cutting-edge research and medical advancements. NEST, which works to nurture learners with quality and integrity through the collaborative pursuit of excellent education and training for Kuwait, will work alongside the two partner universities and is well placed to drive the partnership forwards across health education and innovative research.
