King's ranks top 10 in the world for Psychology
King’s College London has ranked ninth in the world for Psychology in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025. The University also ranked third in the UK for the third consecutive year.
This year’s THE World University Rankings for Psychology profiled 654 universities from 66 countries. The annual rankings consider the learning environment, research environment, research quality, international outlook and industry income.
King’s global ranking for Psychology has risen from 15th (2024) to ninth (2025). It ranked first in the UK and second in the world for industry links, and first in the UK and second in the world for international outlook.
Psychology at King’s is studied at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), Europe’s largest centre for research and education in psychiatry, psychology and neuroscience. The IoPPN is home to over 5,000 students across two undergraduate and 27 postgraduate taught programmes.
At the IoPPN, we have been working hard to ensure our programmes are the best they can be. I’m delighted to see this recognised in King’s rise from 15th to ninth in the 2025 THE World University Rankings by Subject, making us one of the best places in the world to study psychology. Looking ahead, we’re excited to welcome our first cohort of students in September for our new BSc in Psychology and Criminology.
Professor Juliet Foster, Dean of Education at King’s IoPPN
IoPPN students are taught by world leading researchers and clinicians. They benefit from world-class research and study facilities, access to diverse clinical populations and vast datasets, and clinical placements through King’s partnership with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, which offers the widest range of mental health services in the UK.
The IoPPN has now launched a British Psychological Society accredited BSc in Psychology and Criminology, in collaboration with the Dickson Poon School of Law. The course will have its first intake of students in September 2025 and is currently open for registration.
