With a Faculty that traces its roots to Florence Nightingale’s own training school, it seems only fitting that, 150 years later, King’s should be leading the world in Nursing, and at a time when the profession could not be more important for the future of global health. King's Ranks Among World's Best in 42 Subjects
King's College London celebrates a number of successes in QS Worldwide University Rankings 2025.

The QS World University rankings by Subject, is an extensive overview of international higher education performance, with over 1700 institutions ranked across 55 narrow subjects and five broad subject areas. It takes into account key areas of performance such as student experience, university partnerships, research activity and faculty qualifications
Amongst the success, King's Nursing programme has been ranked 1st in the world, with a score of 95.5, overtaking the University of Pennsylvania.
Professor Richard Harding, Executive Dean (interim) of the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care welcomed the news, saying: "I am absolutely delighted that King's has been ranked 1st place in the world for Nursing in the QS World Rankings by Subject 2025. To be recognised as the leaders in nursing globally is an incredible achievement and testament to the dedication and hard work of our staff."
The rankings also saw Geography at King’s moving up 10 places to 14th globally. Geography has been taught at King's since 1922 and is now one of the largest Graduate Schools of Geography in the UK.
Professor Kate Schreckenberg, Head of Geography Department, said: “I am delighted that the hard work of our staff and students has been recognised by this dramatic rise in the league table. It is testament to the engagement of our teaching and research with key societal issues like climate adaptation, wildfires and housing precarity."
King's also moved into 4th place worldwide for Dentistry, having ranked 9th in 2022 and 2023, and 5th last year, reflecting the strength of research and education programmes, and making King's the leading University for dentistry in the UK.
Professor Michael Escudier, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences celebrated the news by thanking those involved, saying "A massive thank you to all staff and students for their continued dedication to the faculty."
Across broad subject areas, Life Sciences & Medicine at King's rose to 11th in the world, and Arts and Humanities rose to 19th globally.
Celebrating the success of Life Sciences & Medicine, Executive Dean, Professor Ajay Shan, said "I'm very pleased that King's has risen to 11th for Life Sciences & Medicine in the 2025 QS Subject Rankings. Our diverse, inclusive community is passionate about improving human health locally and globally by driving advances in scientific, medical and clinical research and education, and we continue to build our reputation as the destination of choice for the most talented individuals."
