King's Food wins four Public Sector Catering Awards
The team received awards for reducing food waste, promoting sustainability and providing nutritious food
King’s Food is thrilled to announce four prestigious wins at the recent Public Sector Catering Awards.
These awards celebrate excellence in catering across the public sector in universities, schools, hospitals, care homes, prisons and the armed forces.
The team received the University Catering Award for reducing food waste and promoting sustainability, while their Sustainability Award recognises their commitment to transparency.
‘We love sourcing local ingredients and cutting back on packaging waste wherever we can,’ said Manish Shah, Associate Director of King’s Food. ‘And we make sure to share the carbon footprint of our dishes so our customers can make informed choices.’
Retail Manager Lisa Connellan received the Unsung Hero Award for always going the extra mile to support our customers, colleagues and the wider community.
The King’s Food team was also honoured with the Health & Nutrition Award for their educational efforts, teaching the next generation about healthy food choices for a better future.
Dr. Rachel Gibson and the King’s nutrition team analyse menus and incorporate award-winning research findings into our food and cooking techniques. Meals now contain an average of 25g of protein. Lunchtime meals have reduced salt by 0.464g (13% reduction) and increased fibre by 30% per meal, from 9.7g to 12.4g, providing 2 portions of an adult’s daily vegetable requirement.
We’re honoured to be recognised for our dedication to sustainability, health, and community impact. These awards are testimony to the great work of the Kings Food team and inspire us to continue raising the bar in public sector catering.
