King's first in Europe and second in the world for dentistry

Dentistry at King’s College London has maintained its standing as the top School for Dentistry in Europe and has also risen to second in the world in the 2018 QS World University Rankings. The latest result is the apex of an upward trend for the Dental Institute since the QS World Rankings were first published in 2011. King’s College London can now lay claim to having the world’s second-best faculty for dentistry.

The QS rankings highlight the world’s top universities across 42 popular subject areas. Institutions are assessed on academic reputation, citations to publications and employer reputation to give an overall score.

King’s Dental Institite scored 89.2 overall, with 85 for academic reputation and 92.6 for citations per paper. The Dental Institute has retained their position as the leader in the UK and Europe.

Executive Dean Professor Mike Curtis said: “Maintaining our position as the top school in Europe but also rising to second in the world in the global rankings reaffirms our position as a world-class institution and reflects the dedication, commitment and innovation of our academic and professional staff, our students, and our alumni.”

The QS World University Rankings by Subject has been published annually since 2011.
