King's Engineer Dr Hak-Keung Lam named in Highly Cited Researchers list for third year running
Dr Hak-Keung Lam, Reader in the Department of Engineering, has been named by the Web of Science Group as Highly Cited Researcher for 2020 under the category of ‘engineering’.
The annual list identifies global researchers who have demonstrated exceptional influence in their chosen field or fields – reflected through the publication of multiple papers ranking in the top 1% by citations for their field and year. 2020 marks the third time that Hak-Keung has received this accolade, having been named as Highly Cited Researcher under the category of ‘engineering’ and ‘cross-field’ in 2019 and 2018 respectively.
At King’s, Hak-Keung’s research interests include fuzzy control, computational intelligence and machine learning. He has authored and co-authored over 370 publications on these topics, which have attracted over 12,000 citations on Google Scholar. Hak-Keung has pioneered the creation of two research sub-fields – membership-function-dependent analysis, and interval type-2 fuzzy control systems under the fuzzy-model-based control framework. Within them, he has initiated novel concepts and analysis techniques which have served to enable further developments by breaking through long-existing challenges in the field, including analysis and design limitations.
