The weekend ran from 12-14 July and was held at Cumberland Lodge, in Windsor Great Park, with students, academics and professional services staff from across the school in attendance.

A series of workshops and short courses were hosted throughout the weekend, which offered insights and advice on research skills for postgraduate study. Postgraduate researchers were also given a platform to present their research and receive feedback.

There were guest lectures hosted by academics from the school, including a lecture by head of school, Professor Peter John, which asked ‘What is political economy?’, while Dr Surbhi Kesar, from SOAS, spoke on ‘Dualism and informality in Indian economy’.

Attendees were also given the opportunity to explore the surroundings and make the most of the lodge facilities.

Prof John said: “Our first postgraduate student weekend was a resounding success and it was hugely encouraging to see so many colleagues and members of our student community engaged and enjoying the events on offer.

“I look forward to building on the success of this inaugural weekend. We had very positive feedback and ideas for the future which we will be reviewing, and we encourage everyone to keep an eye out for details of future plans.”
