Dr Sharon Giles from the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences (BMEIS) has received the honorary appointment to the role of Associate Clinical Research Facility (CRF) Director within the Guy's and St Thomas' Foundation Trust.

Four Associate CRF Directors have been appointed in total across the St Thomas’, Evelina and Royal Brompton CRF units.

The post of Associate CRF Director is a key contributor and adviser to the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Facility for Experimental Medicine, and plays an important role in supporting the CRF Director and Deputy Director in relation to the strategic development of the facilities in terms of research and business development, input into resource allocation and advising on delivery against CRF key performance indicators such as facility occupancy.

I am very pleased to accept this role as Associate Director of the Guy’s & St Thomas’ NIHR Clinical Research Facility. In doing so, I aim to ensure that imaging remains at the heart of the CRF’s ambitions as we expand our portfolio of innovative studies, supporting our researchers and bringing clinical benefit to patients.

Sharon Giles, BSc, MSc, PhD. Director of Clinical & Research Imaging Operations, School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences

We are delighted to offer Dr Giles an Associate CRF Director post in recognition of her leadership of the Imaging CRF unit and her significant contributions to the strategic and operational direction of the CRF as a whole.
