From 22-25 April, the Inigo Rooms on King’s Strand Campus will host Holy Qur’an: Casket of Jewels, an exhibition and series of free talks, organised by King’s Ahmadiyya Muslim Students Association.

In addition to viewing stunning displays of Islamic calligraphy and copies of the holy text, visitors to the exhibition will hear from speakers including Razwan Baig who will speak on the spiritual and artistic development of calligraphy, and Hamza Ilyas (also known as @muslimastronomer), who will discuss the link between Qur'anic descriptions and modern astronomical knowledge to illustrate the compatibility between faith and science.

Our aim with Holy Qur’an: Casket of Jewels is to create a space where faith, science, and art come together in harmony. We hope visitors leave with a deeper appreciation of the Qur’an’s beauty—its calligraphy, its intellectual depth, and its continued relevance in today’s world. Whether you're drawn by curiosity or reflection, there's something here for everyone.

Malik Takreem Ahmad, President, King's College London Ahmadiyya Muslim Students Association

The programme for Holy Qur’an: Casket of Jewels also includes an exploration of the richness and linguistic complexity of Arabic with Ibrahim Ikhlaf, an examination of how the Qur'an references past civilisations and events that align with archaeological and historical discoveries from Dr Damir Rafi, a discussion around the verses in the Qur'an that align with modern scientific discoveries in fields such as embryology, cosmology, and oceanography from Dr Umar Nasser, an investigation into interfaith harmony from Jonathan Butterworth.
