Breast care nurse wins King's Global Health Award
Vickki Harmer, breast cancer specialist and consultant nurse, is recognised for the global impact of her work and advocacy at the King’s Distinguished Alumni Awards.
Vickki Harmer (Nursing, 1997; Doctorate in Healthcare, 2015) won the Global Health Award at the King’s Distinguished Alumni Award ceremony in June 2024.
Vickki was among 12 alumni recognised for their contributions to their field, including nursing alum Andreia Trigo, who was awarded the King’s Business and Entrepreneur Award.
Vickki is a leading figure in breast care, advising on breast cancer storylines on film, TV and radio, and promoting breast awareness as a public figure for years.
She currently works at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, leading a team of nurse specialists. She is also active in international clinical research trials and has published widely. Her work and advocacy for breast care has taken Vickki all over the world, including volunteering in Kenya and rural India, delivery a keynote address in Australia, and teaching throughout the Middle East, Europe and America.
At the awards ceremony, Vickki was presented with her award by Professor Richard Trembath, Senior Vice President (Life & Health Sciences) and Executive Director of King’s Health Partners.
