AI in Social Care Summit
Olivia Luijnenburg and Kritika Samsi were in Oxford

Unit researchers Kritika Samsi and Olivia Luijnenburg attended the AI in Social Care Summit 2025, organised by former HSCWRU colleague Caroline Green and others at the Institute for Ethics in AI at the University of Oxford. The one-day event, on 27 March, showcased the Oxford Statement on the responsible use of generative AI through presentations and panel discussions with participants and organisations involved in the creation of the statement.
Currently, there is no existing policy on ethically using AI in social care. Advantages and risks of using AI, for example in care planning, inputting personal data, or writing meeting notes, were presented and the necessity of clear policies to minimise risks was underlined. The day ended with a Call for Action to endorse the need for the responsible use of Generative AI in social care.
