Briefly, could you introduce yourself?
My name is Tang Tianyi. I come from Nanjing, China and I'm a student in BSc Nursing studies. Before coming to King’s, I studied nursing at Nanjing Vocational Health School for five years, which included a one-year clinical internship in a hospital.
What most attracted you to the programme?
The outstanding academic reputation of the nursing programme at King’s and the campus culture of the university. The programme also helps to broaden my international perspective and give me more exposure to cutting-edge nursing concepts and technologies, thereby improving my professional skills. In addition, studying abroad is a life experience that allows me to grow personally and professionally.
How have you found the experience?
It has been a very good experience, especially helping me to understand the difference between international care and local needs. The different teaching modes and advanced technology have also opened my eyes.
What has been the best thing about your time on the programme?
During the whole process, the school arranged private tutors for each of us who we could contact at any time about our academic problems. This improved my learning efficiency.
How do you feel that King's has prepared you for a career in nursing?
King’s is a research-intensive university, so we are often encouraged to engage with cutting-edge research. This instills a commitment to evidence-based practice, which is essential for delivering high-quality care. King’s also emphasises reflective practice, leadership training and professional accountability, which are vital for long-term career growth.
What are your future plans when you complete the programme?
At present, I plan to continue my postgraduate studies and I hope to have the opportunity to continue studying at King's.
What impact has this programme had on your life / career?
Exposure to different healthcare systems, nursing concepts and cultures during my study abroad helped me broaden my horizons and learn cutting-edge nursing knowledge and skills. The experience has cultivated my ability to think independently and solve problems. My English has also improved.
