Kings Food the internal catering department of Kings College London are looking to recruit a catering assistant to work at our Waterloo campus.
About the role:
As a catering assistant you will be involved with all aspects of the catering service including basic food preparation, food service, till operation, barista coffee making, food hygiene and other duties associated with the running of the Colleges retail units and hospitality.
The ideal candidate will be:
- A good team player
- Have a passion and commitment to provide good customer service.
- Have a flexible and positive approach.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Understand food safety and hygiene regulations.
The position is offered with 20 hours a week, working five out of seven days and will involve working evenings and weekends.
About you:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
- Basic level of computer literacy (ability to access email and online training)
- Experience of working in a catering environment
- Understanding of all relevant health, hygiene, and safety regulations
- Good written and oral communication
- Experience of providing high service levels to all customers
- Experience of operating a till and taking payments
- Able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Desirable criteria
- NVQ level 1 or equivalent catering qualification
- Hold a current Food Handlers certificate.
