This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and skilled individual to take a pivotal role in the coordination, management, and successful delivery of high-quality Postgraduate Research administration within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience.

About the role:

The Senior Programme Manager, Postgraduate Research plays a key role within the Education and Support Team (EST), leading and managing the delivery of effective, and responsive support for over 600 Postgraduate Research students and their supervising teams in the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience.

Working closely with the Associate Dean for Doctoral Studies and key stakeholders within the faculty, the role holder will significantly contribute to the development and delivery of PGR strategy at faculty level. In addition, they will also liaise with key stakeholders such as the King’s Doctoral College, and external bodies such as the UKRI, Research Centres and various funding providers.

Managing a small team (currently 2), the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the workload and responsibilities are appropriately distributed amongst the team, that key deadlines and Service Level Agreements are met, and that the structure of the team meets the needs of the faculty and will be able to deliver the Postgraduate Research strategy.

This post is based at the Denmark Hill Campus, and we operate a hybrid working policy, with a minimum requirement of two days working in the office.

This is a full-time post, and the successful candidate will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. First degree, other appropriate qualifications, or relevant experience. 
  2. Substantial Postgraduate administrative experience. 
  3. Experience of direct line management, supervising or leading a team 
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce concise written material and reports for a range of audiences, and to effectively communicate at all levels, with both internal and external stakeholders. 
  5. Demonstratable experience in leading and implementing change, and taking initiative to improve processes, preferably in an academic environment.
  6.  Excellent organisational and time management skills, including flexible approach to managing a constant and varied portfolio of requests; able to meet multiple fixed deadlines.
  7.  Able to think strategically and to contribute to strategic direction.
  8.  Excellent IT skills, particularly MS Office, SharePoint and Power BI

Desirable criteria

  1. Postgraduate level qualification.
  2. Experience in event management.  
  3. Experience managing student data via the SITS Student Records system
