Kings Food the internal catering department of Kings College London are looking to recruit a hospitality porter  to work at our  Strand campus

As a hospitality porter you will report into the head chef  and work closely with the kitchen team to ensure that high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are always maintained.

Your duties will be varied and include general day to day cleaning of kitchens, food preparation areas and dish and pot washing. You will assist the chefs with basic food preparation and be responsible for checking goods in and ensuring they are correctly stored. The ideal candidate will be:

  • A good team player
  • Be reliable and efficient
  • Have a flexible and positive approach
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Have a basic understanding of food and hygiene regulations.

The contract is offered on a five out of 7 days basis and will involve working evenings and weekends.

This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite  contract.

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1.      Good written and oral communication

2.      Experience of basic food preparation

3.      Knowledge of cleaning products and materials

4.      Knowledge of checking in goods and storing correctly

5.      Experience of cleaning kitchens

6.      Experience of operating a dishwasher

7.      Basic level of computer literacy 

8.      Able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings

Desirable criteria

1.      Hold a current food handler’s certificate.

2.      Experience of working in a catering environment
