About the role

We are excited to be launching a new team within King’s Digital Student Support. The Student Engagement team has the mission of building online distance learners’ sense of belonging and community at King’s, leading to their positive student experience and academic success.

The new team will provide expertise and understanding of what engagement means for online distance learners, creating mechanisms to build a sense of belonging and community, bringing innovation and new approaches to the student experience.

The Engagement team will oversee all proactive communication to online distance learners from King’s Digital, ensuring timely, tailored and relevant student engagement.

The Student Engagement Advisor will, with the guidance of the Student Engagement Manager, support the curation and delivery of a programme of events, community building and communication and engagement initiatives. This will include organising online and in-person events, drafting communication, analysing and acting upon student feedback, and working closely with the broader Student Support and King’s Digital team.

Additionally, the role will involve considerable collaboration with other teams and stakeholders to ensure an excellent student experience, from welcome to graduation.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: 

Essential criteria

  1. Qualification or experience in a relevant area such as events organisation, communication, marketing or customer service  
  2. Strong working knowledge of MS tools such as Outlook, Excel, Word  
  3. Ability to respond to questions and enquiries where the answer may not be immediately clear  
  4. Highly driven and organised, with the ability to handle both proactive and reactive workloads  
  5. High attention-to-detail particularly using digital systems and in communication to various audiences  
  6. Effective communicator and able to build relationships, able to articulate complex information to a diverse body of students from different cultures and backgrounds  
  7. Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively as a team

Desirable criteria

  1. Prior experience working with postgraduate students  
  2. Experience of working with virtual learning environments (VLEs) and online events platforms
