About Us

The post will be based in the Centre for Mental Health Policy and Evaluation (CMHPE), a leading international centre carrying out world-class research in the areas of evaluation and implementation of mental health initiatives. The aim of the centre is to positively influence mental health policy and practice.

CMHPE is based in the Department of Health Service & Population Research (HSPR) whose main goal is to conduct world-leading research and education using the social and health sciences to better understand and to improve health outcomes, systems and care, both locally and globally, particularly in disadvantaged and marginalised populations.

About The Role

The purpose of this role is to support the communications and patient, public and community engagement functions of NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) South London, a research organisation that brings together researchers, health and social care practitioners, and local people to improve health and social care in south London. The post holder will work closely with the ARC’s Communications Managers and the Patient, Service User, Carer and Public Involvement Coordinator, based at King’s College London.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 31/03/2026

This is a part-time post - 60% part time equivalent.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing social media accounts – X, LinkedIn and BlueSky
  • Developing digital content, including videos
  • Developing content for ARC and partner websites
  • Reviewing websites to ensure content is up to date
  • Preparing content for regular public newsletters
  • Events planning and organisation (in person and online)
  • Supporting NIHR reporting through maintaining information logs
  • Supporting / developing comms campaigns

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

 Essential criteria

  1. A degree or other further / higher educational qualification in a related field or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills
  2. Experience in a communications or engagement role or an interest in developing a career in comms or a related field
  3. Understanding and use of content management systems to manage webpages
  4. Interest and understanding of developing creative digital content for social media
  5. Organisational skills
  6. Writing, copyediting and proofreading skills

Desirable criteria

  1. Knowledge / experience / interest in health and care research
  2. Knowledge / experience / interest in community engagement and/or involvement
  3. Knowledge / experience / interest in communicating research or evidence to a general audience
