About Us
The Department of Twin Research & Genetic Epidemiology is physically located within St Thomas’s Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust, which helps to strengthen links with our department across King’s Health Partners. The department conducts research involving participants recruited through the TwinsUK cohort, as well as other research studies related to ageing and health. The department sits within the School of Lifecourse and Population sciences, within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine.
About the role
We are excited to be able to offer the opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our diverse team as a data administrator. This role will involve working across King’s Health Partners at King’s College London and Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust. The administrator will be responsible for data entry and transcription of two clinical research REDCap databases. The administrator will be expected to demonstrate strong attention to detail and management of data queries. The post will offer the opportunity for enhanced learning and understanding of medical language and working alongside professional, clinical, and research staff.
The administrator will work closely with staff already in post including Clinical Study Manager, Clinical Research Fellow, and Dr Carly Welch (Clinical Senior Lecturer and Principal Investigator on research studies). They will transcribe data collected by the research team to the central REDCap database or from source data. They will respond to data queries raised by the research sponsor and attend clinical governance meetings.
The administrator will assist on research to understand the effects of cancer treatment on ageing and resilience trajectories amongst older people and will form a pivotal part of the work. This post will offer development opportunities for the successful candidate to pursue further professional, academic, or clinical training and employment.
This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31 January 2026.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Vocational qualifications (HNC, NVQ3) and/or skills and experience acquired during relevant work experience that includes short courses and other formal training
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Email, the Internet and databases
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong attention to detail
- Strict adherence to information governance processes
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience working in a medical setting
- Relevant training in clinical research (e.g. ICH-GCP)
- Medical terminology qualification (e.g. AMSPAR) or able to demonstrate good understanding of medical terminology
- Previous research experience, including research data entry
