About the role

The Dickson Poon School of Law is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Digital Law who will contribute to the teaching, research, and other academic and professional activities at The Dickson Poon School of Law.

The successful candidate may have recently completed a PhD and would like to gain further experience in a research–led teaching role and be actively involved in the administration and academic life of a thriving law school. The successful candidate’s principal teaching contribution will be in Digital Law, on our postgraduate programmes but you will be required to teach across all modes of programme delivery: on-campus, blended and online.

The post holder will assist with the development and implementation and teaching, of a new online Digital Law LLM, starting in January 2026. This programme is designed to equip legal professionals with the skills and knowledge required to navigate the rapidly evolving data-driven technologies reshaping the legal landscape.

The successful candidate will also undertake research, within The Centre for Data Futures and have a deep personal commitment to the delivery of teaching of the highest quality with a particular interest in digital law or technology and law. We are open to the candidate’s field of specialist expertise within these fields.

About you

Essential Criteria

1.  PhD, DPhil or, JSD in Law.

2.  Track record of excellent teaching and knowledge of Digital Law.

3.  A commitment to, and interest in the area of Digital Law, as the primary focus of the candidate’s teaching

4.  Excellent oral and written communication skills

5.  Competence with electronic learning platforms and other IT skills.

6.  Ability to work effectively within a team, work collaboratively and collegiately as well as on one’s own initiative.

7.  Demonstrable ability to publish high quality research in Digital Law.

Desirable criteria

1. The potential to attract funding for research or for the candidate’s research agenda to have impact

2. Willingness to  undertake academic administrative roles.

3. Teaching award e.g., Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE)
