About the role
We are seeking to appoint a Business Support Officer on a fixed term contract for 12 months providing operational support cover to the Executive Dean’s Office. The post holder will be an integral part of the Business Support Team in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Dean’s Office.
The role holder will be responsible for financial processing and reporting operational processes within the School as well as administrating a broad range of support in HR, estates, finance and resources issues relevant to academic and professional services staff.
The role would be suitable for someone who is looking to support a variety of activities, with excellent organisation skills, the ability to prioritise and work under pressure, who enjoys working as part of a team as well as independently.
This is a full-time role (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until the 17th January 2026. The post holder will be required to be in the office four days a week. This role can be considered for a secondment opportunity.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Excellent IT skills, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel
2. Excellent oral and written communication
3. Experience of a customer service focused, administrative role
4. Experience of managing and prioritising a heavy workload with conflicting priorities
5. Experience of working with staff at all levels, within and outside of the organisation
6. Experience of problem solving to provide creative solutions to deliver excellent service
7. A high level of tact and discretion and able to keep information confidential
8. Willing to work four days a week on Campus during
Desirable criteria
1. Administrative experience from within an HE environment
