About us:

The Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning (CTEL) at King’s College London is seeking to appoint a full-time permanent Learning Technologist (Faculty Liaison). CTEL forms part of the Education Solutions department within King’s IT Services.

CTEL works to improve the digital experience for staff and students by providing pedagogic and technological expertise in learning technologies. CTEL have a university wide remit on innovative, sustainable, and scalable technology to support the student and staff learning and teaching experience.

About the role:

The Learning Technologist (Faculty Liaison) will be responsible for providing faculty engagement and context in support of King’s digital education activities and projects. This will involve communicating with a range of individuals including TEL colleagues and senior stakeholders within faculties and departments. 

The successful candidate will foster a creative, open, positive working environment with faculties and departments delivering the benefits of pedagogic and technology projects. They will be a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent facilitation, communication and engagement skills. Additionally, they will have a proven track record in effectively supporting institutional TEL/digital education initiatives.

The postholder will work with allocated faculties and departments, feeding into future digital education projects and will contribute to formal and informal groups engaged in the delivery of digital education projects, service improvements and initiatives. 

As Education Solutions/CTEL is a central focus for digital education across King’s the postholder will be required to interact with people who are strategically important to the department. It is therefore essential to portray a favourable and highly professional impression to both internal and external contacts. 

This is a full time, and you will be offered an indefinite  contract.

About you: (the candidate)

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1.      Degree in Technology Enhanced Learning or Education or Degree in another subject and equivalent experience.

2.      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships in a complex/academic working environment.

3.      Practical knowledge and experience of the expert use of VLEs (e.g. Moodle) and other digital education solutions (e.g. Kaltura; Echo 360) within an educational setting.

4.      Understanding of the underlying pedagogy of digital education, including Instructional Design principles.

5.      Excellent presentation and CPD skills with an ability to create resources in a variety of formats e.g. video guidance, interactive content and written documentation. 

6.      Ability to actively listen and appropriately question a variety of stakeholders, understanding needs and gathering requirements for the implementing digital education related initiatives (small or large scale).

7.      Experience of project delivery and change management activities supporting the implementation of new technologies across complex organisations.  

8.      Ability to work proactively, independently and with others as part of the team, prioritising a varied workload and ensure a meticulous attention to detail in all professional activities.

Desirable criteria

1.      Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and/or CMALT (Certified Member of the Association of Learning Technology).

2.      Experience working with external vendors and engagement with supplier roadmaps.

3.      ITIL Accreditation.

4.       Familiarity with range of delivery approaches e.g. Agile, PRINCE2
