The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is based in the heart of central and south London. It includes the Cicely Saunders Institute for Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation, the premier Institute for Palliative Care, bringing together clinical, research and education teams. 

Our award-winning NMPC education programmes span pre-registration nursing and midwifery, and multidisciplinary post-graduate taught and research programmes. King’s is the largest provider of health care education in Europe. Our applied clinical and health research transforms therapies, the healthcare experience and outcomes for patients and those important to them, wherever they are cared for.

About the role:

We are looking for a Senior Programme Officer to join our Professional Services team, working within the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care, at one of the most prestigious universities in the UK.

Working in a fast-paced environment your role will involve taking responsibility to resolve complex queries and issues, supporting activities such as timetabling, maintaining accurate student data on progression and achievement, and fostering effective communication among students, faculty, and stakeholders. The role supports processes across the whole academic cycle, ensuring accurate and timely record management across multiple systems.

As a crucial member of our team, you'll offer vital support to both students and academics, serving as a central point of contact for queries and issues related to our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Collaborating with colleagues, you'll play a key role in planning and coordinating activities, allowing you to expand your expertise in regulations and process improvement while contributing to professional networks dedicated to promoting best practices.

This is a full-time time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

The Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care operates a hybrid working policy and you will be expected to spend a minimum of two working days per week on campus.

About the role:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1.      Demonstrated programme administration experience, preferably gained within a Higher Education context.

2.      Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to draft document and correspondence tailored to diverse audiences.

3.      Proficient in numerical analysis, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy when handling complex data, employing a data-driven decision-making approach.

4.      Proven experience in stakeholder management, with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.

5.      Excellent time management and organisational skills, adept at meeting tight deadlines and managing competing priorities, and recognising when escalation or support is required.

6.      Curious, customer service oriented, with a commitment to personal accountability and continuous improvement, coupled with the ability to address complaints and service issues efficiently and professionally.

7.      Experience collaborating effectively within a diverse team, demonstrating a proactive approach, and possessing the capability to work autonomously.

8.      Excellent working knowledge of IT systems, such as Microsoft Office suite.  

Desirable criteria

1.      Experience in the use of databases, student records systems (such as SITS).

2.      Dedication to fostering equality and diversity in the workplace.

3.      Experience providing pastoral care to students and signposting internal and external recourses.

4.      Experience of student programme timetabling administration.
