King's International Foundation Programme
Find out more about our specialist one-year foundation course
Since 2016, the King’s International Foundation Programme has helped over 2,500 students progress to an undergraduate degree at King’s. This year, we welcomed over 900 international students from 75+ countries to the King’s International Foundation Programme.
The King's International Foundation Programme is the largest course of its kind run by a university in the UK. It’s designed and delivered by King’s experts on our King’s campuses. Our foundation courses are never run by external companies.
Every King's International Foundation Programme student will be given a conditional offer to study one of over 150 undergraduate degrees* at King’s.
The degrees you’ll be eligible to apply for align with the foundation pathway and optional modules you choose. Please read each option carefully and make sure you apply for the correct pathway and module combination.
*Subject to meeting entry requirements as stated in your conditional offer letter. It excludes dentistry, law, medicine, midwifery, music, nursing, pharmacy, and physiotherapy. These degrees require external tests and/or interviews. However, interviews for Pharmacy are guaranteed for King's International Foundation Programme students on the Health, Life & Biosciences pathway.

You can skip UCAS and apply directly to King's for up to three degrees (except for the excluded degrees outlined above).
This makes it much easier to apply to King’s and gives you more options to apply for other courses via UCAS, should you wish to do so.
Of last year's cohort 80% of students progressed to King’s.
Other students continued their studies at universities in the UK, including LSE, UCL, City, Bristol, Manchester, and many more both in the UK and abroad.
Another benefit of being a King's International Foundation Programme student is that you’re guaranteed a space in King’s accommodation—as long as you apply in time.
Foundation scholarships are available, and you can apply for one from November 2024. Visit our 'Fees and funding' page to find out more about our scholarships.
If you continue at King’s, you'll also receive a Progression Scholarship. It’s equivalent to 10% of the tuition fee for the first year of your undergraduate degree.
When you join us, you’ll be a King’s student from arrival. You’re encouraged to join the students' union (KCLSU) and sign up for societies. You’ll also be able to use a range of facilities, such as our gyms, on-site restaurants and cafes, and the NHS centre.
You’ll study at our campuses in the heart of London, alongside all our students with access to our libraries, IT and all other resources.
London has been ranked the best city for students in the world for the fourth year in a row (QS Best Student City Rankings 2025). By joining King’s, you’ll be at the most central university in London.
There are plenty of professionals on hand to help you adjust to student life at King's. This includes your Personal Tutor, who will guide you through applying for undergraduate study.
There’s also a dedicated Student Experience team that will help you make the most of your international foundation year and a Wellbeing Advisor to help you with any wellbeing challenges.
With over 75 different nationalities studying the King's International Foundation Programme, you’ll be joining a diverse cohort. But across the university, you’ll find students and staff from over 150 countries.
