Book Launch
Nationalism is pervasive in China today, yet it is not entrenched in China’s intellectual tradition. In his new book, Dr Xin Fan examines the ways in which historians within China, working on the world beyond China, have constructed narratives that challenge nationalist readings of the Chinese past, and look at the influence these historians have had on the formation of Chinese identity.
In this session, we will hear from Xin in conversation with Professor Kerry Brown on the importance of nationalism in China today and what it means for modern China. The session will include audience Q&A with the author.
