Queer@King’s is delighted to host a screening of the documentary We Were Here (2010). The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director David Weissman.

Weissman's award-winning feature-length film documents the coming of what was called the “Gay Plague” to San Francisco in the early 1980s. Illuminating the profound personal and community issues raised by the AIDS epidemic, as well as the broad political and social upheavals it unleashed, We Were Here evokes an epic and moving history through the intimate recollections of five long-time San Franciscans whose lives were transformed by the epidemic.

Watch the short video below with Weissman to learn more about the movie and its significance for today's audiences.
