This term you have the opportunity of discussing work in progress or any ideas, concerns, doubts related to translator at weekly drop-in sessions with professional translator and Arts & Humanities activist in residence Cristina Viti. Open to students and researchers interested in the technical aspects of translating, career and editorial advice, and practice-based insights on the art of translation.

Cristina Viti

Cristina Viti is a translator and poet working with Italian, English and French. Her published translations include a volume of Furio Jesi’s essays on the perception of time in situations of revolt & revolution (Time & Festivity, Seagull Books 2021), Pier Paolo Pasolini's La rabbia/Anger (Tenement Press 2022), and (with Souheila Haïmiche), a collection by French Algerian militant poet Anna Gréki (The Streets of Algiers, Smokestack Books 2020). Her translation of Elsa Morante’s The World Saved by Kids (Seagull Books 2016) was shortlisted for the John Florio Prize. Her Italian translation of Orson Welles' Moby Dick—Rehearsed is in production with the Teatro dell'Elfo in Milan. ​Cristina's collaborative translation workshops with King's staff and students resulted in the publication of An Anarchist Playbook (No UP 2024). This year she is one of the Faculty's Activists in Residence.
