This month we are joined by Danny Nedialkova, Professor for Biochemistry of Gene Expression at the Technische Universität München, who will be talking about her recent work using newly developed technologies in stem cell-based models defined the regulatory rules of tRNA expression and its impact on mRNA decoding during human cell differentiation.

Speaker bio

Danny Nedialkova is a group leader at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry and a professor at the Technical University of Munich (Germany), where she investigates the regulation of protein biogenesis in eukaryotic cells. Danny completed a PhD on nidovirus replication with Eric Snijder and Sascha Gorbalenya at the Leiden University Medical Center (The Netherlands). She then moved to the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine (Germany) with an EMBO Long-Term Fellowship to study the roles of tRNA anticodon modifications during translation with Sebastian Leidel. Since 2017, she leads the “Mechanisms of Protein Biogenesis” laboratory at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry with support from an ERC Starting Grant and an EMBO Young Investigator Award.

This is a hybrid seminar.

About us

The Centre for the Physical Science of Life realises the transformative power of physical science in advancing understanding of the fundamental mechanisms underlying living systems across scales. The goal of our unique physical science centre is to achieve a whole-scale quantitative understanding of life using physical and mathematical principles.

Based in the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences (NMES), the Centre coalesces expertise across our Faculty in creative fusions of natural, mathematical and engineering sciences, our ambition is to solve the fundamental challenge of modern biology; bridging the gap between current biomolecular and systems level descriptions of biological phenomena.
