Advances in Diabetes & Metabolic Medicine: from Therapeutic Apheresis to Cell Regeneration and Anti-Ageing
Dasman Diabetes Institute, Kuwait. 4 February 2025
We are currently experiencing a paradigm shift in the diagnosis and treatment of our patients in the field of diabetes and metabolic medicine. This poses major challenges to the entire health care system, from specialists to general practitioners, from university clinics to community hospitals, to outpatient care and ultimately to the patient himself and society as a whole. On the other hand endocrine disorders remain largely underdiagnosed. These major challenges cannot be adequately discussed at the congresses of the diabetes and metabolic societies or at the usual continuing education events. With the involvement of the societies, in particular the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), the transCampus as a global network of various universities let by TU Dresden and King's College London, with major international training programmes in the field of diabetes and metabolism, which are funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), other renowned funding bodies, and our partners from the industry, we have established an expert panel that aims to address these challenges through the global transCampus roadshows.
This roadshow is organised by the transCampus and transmedac innovations AG (TMI) and hosted by the Dasman Diabetes Institute in Kuwait City. This event addresses the challenges of metabolic diseases in ageing populations in Kuwait and the MENA region. We are grateful for the generous support by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences and the TMI sponsors. The event organisers Prof Stefan Bornstein (TU Dresden, KCL and transCampus Dean) and Dr Ebaa Al Ozairi (Chief Medical Officer, Dasman Institute) look forward to developing closer research collaborations between their respective institutions together with the roadshow partner Ageing Research at King's (ARK) led by Dr Richard Siow.
