Toxic Positivity: How Philosophy Cheerfully Undermines Faith
Colin Gunton Memorial Lecture 2025: Professor Nicholas Adams
The 2025 Colin Gunton Memorial Lecture will be given by Professor Nicholas Adams, Professor of Philosophical Theology at the University of Birmingham.
Professor Adams develops philosophical tools to help repair theological problems. His Eclipse of Grace: Divine and Human Action in Hegel (Oxford: Wiley-Blackwell, 2013) is an excellent example of his distinctive approach. Relatedly, he pursues questions of truth and argumentation in inter-religious encounter, drawing on his long term engagement in the practice of Scriptural Reasoning.
Professor Adams will lecture on: "Toxic Positivity: How Philosophy Cheerfully Undermines Faith”
