Towards a new definition of dyslexia: announcement and discussion

Strand Campus, London

02Aprdyslexia definition

Join us for this announcement and discussion event for a new definition of dyslexia, based on a DELPHI study by researchers at Oxford, Birmingham, King's College London and the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC). This event will be hybrid. If you'd like to join remotely, please use this Microsoft Teams link.

The new definition is published in two new papers in Dyslexia and the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry. These papers include a crucial argument for a new definition of dyslexia to address the lack of clarity surrounding dyslexia and its assessment.

On the panel will be Julia Carroll and Paul Thompson (University of Birmingham), Caroline Holden (SASC) and Philip Kirby (King’s College London), who worked on this study with Margaret J. Snowling at the University of Oxford.
