The announcement of the AUKUS defence and security pact, including Australia, the U.K. and the U.S., is a once-in-a-generation moment in international affairs. This pact is at heart about restating the importance of maritime stability in international security, and how technology and innovation in defence underwrite it. The King’s Japan Programme at the Centre for Grand Strategy, together with the Royal Navy Strategic Studies Centre and the Sea Power Centre - Australia, are proud to host this year’s Three Admiral Talk series bringing together Admirals from the Australia, the UK, and the US to discuss the significance of this trilateral relationship and the future impact of the new agreement.

Admiral Sir Philip Jones GCB DL served as Chief of Naval Staff and First Sea Lord, the professional head of the Royal Navy, from 2016-19.
Admiral John Richardson served 37 years in the U.S. Navy, completing his service as the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO), the top officer in the Navy.
Vice Admiral Tim Barrett retired from the Royal Australian Navy in 2018 after serving as Chief of Navy.
