The Sustainable Business Salon #4: 'Women, Finance and Sustainability’ with Dr Ylva Baeckström
Melbourne House, Strand Campus, London
Join us for a morning of innovative discussion and collaboration at our Sustainable Business Salon, hosted every month at the Centre for Sustainable Business (CSB), King’s Business School.
Our fourth salon will be led by Dr Ylva Baeckström, Senior Lecturer in Finance at King's Business School. Drawing on her research over the last 10 years and from her own career in financial services, Dr Ylva Baeckström will be discussing gender inequality in financial services in this Salon.
Across several academic studies and in her book ‘Gender and Finance’, Ylva examines financial services and the role of gender within it. Financial services is one of the most powerful industry that impacts all aspects of society with the power to maintain or reduce inequalities and sustainable practices. It facilitates people’s lifetime savings and is one of the most well-paid industries to be employed.
Yet it is also highly unequal for women, both as consumers and employees. Financial services has a unique opportunity to assist in the transition towards sustainable finance, including UN SDG5 gender inequality. Financial inequality trails a woman throughout her life cycle. During the Salon, Ylva will present current research in this area and discuss the impact agenda.
