Speaker: Jon Reades (King's College London)
Abstract: Jon reflects on the highs and lows of a sabbatical year. This includes the search for the holy grail (a multi-year Fellowship), chasing editors at major presses, a return to his intellectual roots, the surprising relevance of technology-enhanced learning (TEL) and educational strategy to his research (and teaching), and the importance of collaboration and colleagues to the achievements of study leave.
This seminar will be preceded by tea, coffee and snacks in Room 6.05 from 12:30.
*If you are external to King's and would like to attend this event, please contact the event organiser directly.
About the speaker
Dr Jon Reades joined the Department of Geography in 2013 as Lecturer in Quantitative Human Geography.
His research draws on geographical theory and ‘quantitative social science’ methods to address contemporary challenges in urban and regional development. His experience in planning and geography, as well as databases and programming, enables him to translate concepts and applications across disciplinary boundaries while paying attention to the details of the data, the methods, and the definition of appropriate research questions.
