The Role of Development Banks in Construction Procurement, Contracting and Net Zero
Our next Centre of Construction Law & Dispute Resolution Open Forum will be held on Friday, 21 February 2025. It will explore the importance of development banks and other financial institutions in shaping procurement strategies, the use of construction contracts and the inclusion of environmental requirements in funded projects.
Value-adding techniques, proactive risk management and environmental sustainability are central to the mandates of many international financial institutions as they help the construction industry and its clients to design global procurement strategies that contribute to a climate-resilient future. The involvement of funders in projects is increasingly a means to ensure the adoption of best practices and it can help to foster local capacity-building, long-term development and better outcomes for the countries involved. Our distinguished speakers will provide in-depth examples of these initiatives, through detailed analysis and case studies from the UK and internationally.
Our conference panels will tackle the ways in which financial institutions:
- Shape efficient procurement strategies
- Integrate teams and projects through contracts
- Improve outcomes through environmental requirements.
The conference chair will be Visiting Professor Nicholas Gould of Fenwick Elliott and our speakers include senior representatives from:
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development • The World Bank• University of Nottingham • King’s College London • Bird & Bird Amsterdam• Council of Europe Development Bank • Turin University • European Investment Bank.
Registration will start at 9am and presentations will run from 9:30pm to 4 pm, followed by drinks and networking. A sandwich lunch will be provided.
