The Political Economy of the EU–UK Relationship: A research workshop
King's Building, Strand Campus, London

This inaugural JMCE workshop will provide an opportunity for leading international scholars to discuss and debate the political economy of the EU-UK relationship. Five years on from the UK’s formal withdrawal from the EU, the relationship is once more in flux as it confronts unprecedented geopolitical and geoeconomic developments, ranging from the energy crisis and Ukraine war to the second Trump presidency and the threat of a transatlantic trade war. The past twelve months has also witnessed major domestic political changes following national elections in the UK, France and Germany. To gain a better understanding of how these developments are likely to impact relations between Britain and Europe, speakers will draw upon their recent research to analyse key themes and issues related to post-Brexit political economy and politics, with a particular focus on finance, trade and competition policy.
The workshop will be held in Room K0.20, King's Building.
