The history of African and Caribbean people in Britain did not start with the arrival of a certain ship in 1948. It could be argued that Africans were in Britain before the English migrants. Professor Hakim Adi reveals all in an illustrated presentation based on his award winning book, African and Caribbean People in Britain: A History.

Speaker: Professor Hakim Adi

Professor Hakim Adi is an award-winning historian. He was the first historian of African heritage to become a professor of history in Britain. He launched the world’s first online MRes in the History of Africa and the African Diaspora, and was instrumental in the founding of the History Matters initiative.
