Programme detail

The STEM Work Experience Week runs from Monday 7 to Friday 11 July 2025, based on the Strand Campus. The week starts with a general introduction to King's, before spending the first half of the week with each of the five departments in our Faculty: Chemistry, Engineering, Informatics, Mathematics and Physics. You will get the chance to visit laboratories, talk to scientists and engineers, and get stuck into interactive STEM workshops.

You will then work on a team research project, using different aspects of what you have discovered so far to come up with a creative solution to a real-world problem. The week ends with all groups presenting their work as a research poster in an informal session together with staff from King's College London, your teachers, parents/carers and more.

The week is designed to give you a broad view of the range of STEM careers available, and the diversity of people who work in a university like King's, and the sector as a whole. We will also highlight the skills needed to study a STEM degree at university, and what this experience could be like for you.

Important information

Lunch and refreshments will be provided every day free of charge, but participants are responsible for arranging and covering the cost of transport to and from the campus, and any accommodation required. In total, 32 students will be selected to take part in the programme together.

You must be able to attend all five days of the programme, from Monday 7 to Friday 11 July, 09.45 – 16.00. This is not a residential programme - participants need to travel to and from the King's College London Strand Campus every day.

How to apply

You can apply for a place on the STEM work experience week by filling out this application form. This will ask you a few questions about you, as well as giving you space to tell us why you would like to take part in the programme. You will need to fill out this form with a parent/guardian.

Applications will close on Friday 14 March 2025, 23.59. We will notify successful applicants by Friday 11 April 2025.
